Seattle Cancer Care Alliance

Chief Medical Officer

The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) seeks a visionary and dynamic leader to serve as its next Chief Medical Officer (CMO).

The Opportunity:  The SCCA CMO is a member of the senior leadership team and is responsible for providing medical direction and leadership to the inpatient and outpatient medical practice, and for communicating policy to medical staff.  Importantly, the CMO will be a driver of institutional entrepreneurialism and will help lead SCCA’s market and brand growth.  Related to those aims, the CMO is directly involved in SCCA budget planning, program planning, departmental quality, performance improvement, staff development, and identification of capital needs.  The CMO also provides continuous review of patient care and review of medical staff policies relevant to quality and regulatory requirements.

About SCCA:  Established in 1998, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance brings together the leading research teams and cancer specialists of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle Children’s Hospital, and University of Washington Medicine to translate scientific discovery into the prevention, treatment, and cure of cancer.  SCCA transforms groundbreaking research ideas into lifesaving realities for cancer patients, improving the standard of care regionally and beyond.  SCCA is proud to be recognized as a Best Hospital for 2019-20 and No. 1 in Washington State by U.S. News & World Report for 14 years in a row.  SCCA/University of Washington was also ranked this year in the top 10 for Best Cancer Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report.  SCCA is the first comprehensive cancer center in the Northwest and is a member of the Alliance of Dedicated Cancer Centers.  SCCA is also a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.  SCCA offers two patient housing services, SCCA House and Pete Gross House, as well as eight treatment centers:  SCCA South Lake Union; SCCA Hospital at University of Washington Medical Center; Seattle Children’s Hospital; SCCA at Northwest Hospital; SCCA at EvergreenHealth (Kirkland, WA); SCCA Issaquah (Issaquah, WA); SCCA Peninsula (Poulsbo, WA); and has an affiliation with SCCA Proton Therapy Center.  SCCA has approximately 19 radiation oncologists, 18 surgical oncologists, 149 medical oncologists/hematologists, 166 advanced practice providers, 1,701 total employees, and 2,863 affiliates.  In FY 2018, net revenue was $602.9M and SCCA had $180M in direct cost research grant funding.  For more information about SCCA, please visit www.seattlecca.org.

How to Apply:  Seattle Cancer Care Alliance has retained the services of the executive search firm Korn Ferry to conduct this important search.  Applications should include a detailed curriculum vitae and a letter of interest that highlights the applicant’s personal vision and relevant leadership experience.  To ensure full consideration, inquiries, nominations, and applications should be submitted electronically, in confidence, to:  Josh.Ward@KornFerry.com.  For priority consideration, please submit application materials by December 14, 2020.
