This is an exciting opportunity for a contemporary physician to move into a leadership role in a mission-driven facility and champion continued improvements in the quality of health care for veterans.   In addition to excellent clinical skills and strategies, this leader must be an excellent communicator.  This is an opportunity to make a positive mark, including key involvement in the implementation of a new EMR system and facility redesign to further support best practices.

The Candidate

The CMO must have more than two years of clinical experience as a fully licensed physician.  Knowledge in the areas of infection control practices, especially for those with advanced age and in extended care or residential settings, and provision of care for veterans or knowledge of military culture, is beneficial.

The Organization

The Soldiers' Home in Holyoke is a state-funded, fully accredited health care facility that offers quality health care, hospice care, including full-time residential accommodations, an on-site dental clinic, veterans’ assistance center and a multiservice outpatient department dedicated to the veterans in the Commonwealth. The Soldiers' Home has the capacity to serve long-term care residents and 30 residents of the independent living domiciliary.

The Opportunity

Following a much-publicized outbreak of COVID-19, The Soldiers’ Home is looking to expand on recent successes in quality improvement and is seeking a dynamic and innovative physician who will serve as the chief medical officer (CMO) for the facility and outpatient services. Reporting to the superintendent of the Home, the CMO serves as an advisor in matters pertaining to policy and review setting, service, quality, budget management, clinical outcomes, patient safety, infection control and efficient practice.
