Pennsylvania Hospital is located at 8th and Spruce Streets in the historic Society Hill district of Philadelphia. The nation's first hospital has been a leader in patient care, treatment techniques and medical research for over 260 years.
The Laborist Practice at Pennsylvania Hospital is seeking a full-time OB/GYN physician to join their team. Pennsylvania Hospital is the premier hospital in the area for obstetric care. This established team of Laborists consists of 4 core physician FTE’s.
The position will focus on the care of expecting patients on Labor & Delivery, the Birthing Suite, OB triage area, antepartum unit and post-partum coverage. This model allows for immediate availability of attending physicians for patients laboring in Labor & Delivery. There are always 1 or more OB/GYN attendings, as well as a midwife, on L&D at any given time working alongside the laborist.
There is always a laborist at PAH working on L&D. It is expected that each laborist will cover L&D for a total of 80 (eighty) 24-hour "in-house" shifts/year, with each laborist doing an average of almost 2 (two) 24-hour shifts/week.
The Laborists also play a key role within Pennsylvania Hospital's OB/GYN Residency program, actively teaching and supervising interns, residents and Penn medical students. Opportunities will also be available for Laborists to pick up extra L&D shifts as well as time supervising residents in GYN surgery and outpatient clinics for extra compensation.
Interested candidates may send their CV’s directly to Courtney Earp, Penn Medicine Physician recruiter, at Courtney.email@example.com.
