The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University invites applicants and candidate nominations for an exciting opportunity to serve in the role of Chief of Clinical Laboratories, Temple University Hospital (TUH).

The clinical laboratories of Temple University Hospital (TUH) perform two and half million laboratory tests per year and we have ten divisions led by a MD or PhD clinical scientist with appropriate expertise, many years of clinical experience and certification.  Clinical Pathology consists of following divisions: Hematology/Special Coagulation, Clinical Chemistry, Immunogenetics/Tissue Histotyping, Molecular Diagnostics, Medical Microbiology, Immunology and Virology and Transfusion Medicine (including an active apheresis program). Laboratories are equipped with state of the art modern analyzers including next generation sequencers, MALDI-TOF, new automated chemistry line, and high throughput molecular microbiology/virology platforms to name a few. There is a strategic plan for further enhancement of Clinical Pathology operations.

The Chief will be responsible for the clinical operation and administration of all areas of Clinical Pathology with a special focus on quality management and quality control, process improvement/efficiencies and the implementation of short and long-range strategic plans.

The successful candidate will possess the required credentials for academic rank at the minimum level of Associate Professor, will have a strong background in the oversight of clinical pathology services in a large laboratory and vast experience teaching and supervising medical students, residents and fellows. Candidates with at least five years of experience in directing clinical laboratories in a large university/academic hospital are strongly preferred as are candidates with background in hematopathology or transfusion medicine.
