Assistant Professor, Endocrinology
The University of Nevada, School of Medicine seeks an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine. This position will work as a full-time physician and practice endocrinology at inpatient and outpatient sites. The incumbent will be expected to participate in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows at the bedside, clinics and core lectures and be an integral part of the practice plan and faculty of the University of Nevada, School of Medicine. Participation in clinical and other professional community activities as well as serving on UNR Med and University of Nevada Reno committees will be expected. This position reports to the Endocrinology Division Chief.
This full-time position will provide Endocrinology services in the University Health Systems faculty practice and provide coverage at the Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno. The successful candidate will build a clinical practice that will be a resource to academic colleagues at UNR Med and surrounding medical community. The position will provide teaching of students and residents, provide patient care and management, and have the option to pursue clinical or basic science research. The individual will also attend on house staff covered Internal Medicine if needed. The faculty member will provide medical student and resident lecture series as required.
The successful candidate will be an M.D. or D.O., or equivalent and board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology by June 30, 2019. The candidate must be eligible for an unrestricted Nevada medical license and professional liability insurance coverage and meet credentialing requirements of community and teaching hospitals in Northern Nevada.
Knowledge of general endocrinology, general internal medicine and clinical research preferred. Skills in Thyroid ultrasonography and biopsy and execution of clinical trials also preferred but not required.
