ROLE of the POSITION

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics in Las Vegas, Nevada, is seeking a candidate at the Assistant/Associate Professor level to provide clinical services as a Pediatric Hospitalist. This is a 12-month faculty (non-tenure) position in the Department of Pediatrics. This role involves inpatient and consultative care at the University Medical Center/Children’s Hospital of Nevada, and UNLV School of Medicine Pediatrics Center.  The successful candidate will participate in medical student and resident education and have an interest in scholarly activities.  Proven abilities in the areas of medical student and resident education, clinical research, health outcomes or education outcomes research is desirable.  The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and rank.

QUALIFICATIONS

If applicable for clinical appointments: The successful candidate is expected to have an M.D. degree, D.O. or equivalent and completion of ACGME accredited residency program. Candidate must be board certified or board eligible in Pediatrics, prior to employment commencing. If board eligible, certification must be completed within the first two years of employment. Candidates must be eligible for a Nevada medical license, malpractice coverage and meet credentialing requirements and must be able to obtain admitting privileges at applicable hospitals and/or clinics. Finalist must possess and maintain a State Board of Pharmacy license and DEA license and may be subject to a background check.

SALARY RANGE

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding. 

NOTICE:  All UNLV/NSHE employees may be subject to base pay reduction and/or mandatory unpaid leave: (1) by future action of the Board of Regents without a declaration of financial exigency (pursuant to the NSHE Code, as may be amended from time to time); and/or (2) by future action of the State legislature to reduce pay of certain categories of state employees.
