The Department of Veterans Affairs NY Harbor Healthcare System is seeking a full-time Gastroenterology/Hepatology physician at its campus in Brooklyn, New York.  The position requires outstanding clinical, teaching, and interpersonal skills.  Responsibilities will include the provision of comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care to patients with GI and liver disorders, participation in the inpatient Gastroenterology/Hepatology consultation service, supervision of Gastroenterology/Hepatology fellows and participation in multi-disciplinary and also multi facility Tumor Boards. Advanced training in endoscopy or motility is preferred but not required. Expertise to develop and engage in clinical research is desirable.  In addition, the incumbent will have clinical responsibilities to the Medical Service, including preceptor to third year medical students and additional ad hoc clinical, teaching and administrative assignments as may be required by the Chief of the Medical Service.  The Brooklyn Campus of NYHHS is a major teaching affiliate of State University of New York Downstate Medical Center, and the successful candidate will be appointed at SUNY Downstate at an academic level commensurate with his or her experience.  The candidate must have completed three years of Internal Medicine training in an accredited program, as well as a fellowship in Gastroenterology/ Hepatology.  Board Certification in Internal Medicine and Board Eligibility or Certification in Gastroenterology/Hepatology are required.  He/she must be licensed in any state.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS.
a. Citizenship. Must be a Citizen of the United States. 
b. Education. Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed.
c. Licensure and Registration. Physicians must possess a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a state, territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the state of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure.
d. Residency Training. Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
