The Department of Medicine at the University of Arizona and Banner University Medical Group is actively seeking an experienced Cardiologist to serve as the leader of its newly established Cardiovascular Clinical program. The Clinical Service Line Chief (SLC) will, along with his/her administrative leader dyad, will be the recognized clinical leadership team for the service line. The SLC will be responsible for the development and coordination of a high performing service line which assures a comprehensive, patient centered, and multidisciplinary approach to the care of patients and their families. In coordination with the Department Chairs and Leadership of Banner University Medicine Phoenix the SLC and administrator will be responsible for developing one and three-year service line plans aligned with the overall mission of B – UMP. These plans will address clinical excellence, access, physician productivity and quality as well as strategic growth and financial performance. The cardiovascular service line is a priority clinical area for Banner University Medicine Phoenix with the expectation of being the dominant player in the Phoenix market. The growth plan will need to incorporate not only employed faculty but also formal and informal relationships with community providers.

The SLC is a high-profile role and will report directly to the Physician Executive B – UMP and indirectly to the Chief Medical Officer for quality and safety within the service line. The SLC will be a member of the faculty and will report through their home department to the Academic Chair [AFA1]. The SLC will need to have a highly collaborative relationship with the academic physician leaders to assure successful recruitment, retention, and engagement of the physician faculty in the service line. Direct and indirect reports to the SLC will include relevant medical directors within the service line. The qualified candidate will receive a faculty appointment consistent with their credentials and also have faculty status at the University of Arizona, which includes a generous tuition discount for the applicant and immediate family members.

  • The qualified candidate will be BC cardiologist with regional/national reputation for excellence.  He/she should have at least 5 years of experience with evidence of progressive leadership responsibilities.  Experience in an academic setting is desirable.

BUMC-P is a 733 bed, Level I Trauma facility.
