California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) Department of Medicine Internal Medicine Residency Program and the Sutter West Bay Medical Group (SWBMG), has an exceptional full-time opportunity for an innovative, experienced board certified internal medicine physician. This unique position offers the dual role as the Medical Director of Ambulatory Training Program (0.5 FTE) located at CPMC and as an outpatient internal medicine SWBMG primary care clinician (0.5 FTE).

As medical director and core faculty for the categorical Internal Medicine residency program, this position oversees the ambulatory training for 42 categorical residents in the resident-faculty outpatient clinic that serves a panel of patients representing the diverse population of San Francisco. The ambulatory resident clinic is a team-based, collaborative care model, including medical assistants, patient service representatives, triage nurse and part-time social worker. The ambulatory faculty and educational outpatient program consistently ranks high among the residency’s best training experiences.

Opportunity Details:

Medical Director

  • 0.5 FTE
  • Collaborates with the Department Chair and Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency program and the ambulatory faculty to develop and maintain a highly functioning educational program that meets ACGME accreditation standards
  • Coordinates with SWBMG leadership, CPMC clinic manager and supervisor to meet budgetary goals, and to ensure that standards for patient care and residency training are met
  • Educational responsibilities include faculty oversight, curriculum development, formal and informal didactic sessions, supervision, evaluation and mentoring of Internal Medicine residents

Clinician

  • 0.5 FTE
  • Established outpatient single specialty SWBMG clinic
  • Located close to Pacific Heights CPMC campus
  • EPIC is the Electronic Health Record for the inpatient/outpatient settings

Qualifications:

  • M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school and internal medicine residency program
  • Demonstrated commitment to and experience in teaching and primary care, expertise in quality improvement, evidence-based medicine, behavioral medicine and women’s health
  • Maintains a valid, unrestricted medical license to practice in California
  • ABIM board certification in Internal Medicine and participation in MOC
