Occupational Medicine Physician

The Palmetto Health USC Medical Group and Department of Family and Preventive Medicine is seeking to add an Occupational Medicine Physician. This position is full time, for a physician who is board-eligible or board-certified in Preventive Medicine or Occupational Medicine.

Duties include:

Provides direct patient care to include DOT, pre-employment, Fit for Duty and Return to Work physical exams, work-related injury and illness treatment and medical surveillance for patients in HealthWorks/Employee Health and at client companies.

Oversee City of Columbia and Richland County Firefighter exams according to NFPA guidelines.

Assist with oversight of onsite medical clinics and AED programs for Prisma Health and client companies.

Provides appropriate consultations, referrals and follow-up care based on patients’ needs. Orders studies, tests and ancillary services.

Provides consultation for blood and body fluid exposures to employees and management. Medically supervises HealthWorks’ Nurse Practitioner including chart review and consultation.

Acts at Medical Review Officer for Prisma Health and external client companies.

Involved in development, review and approval of policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of the services. Researches various occupational health issues as needed.

Provide academic Services (averaging eight (8) hours per week) to support the graduate medical education and undergraduate medical education activities of the Medical Group and the University of South Carolina School of Medicine.
