What are we looking for in a Medical Director?
This is an exciting opportunity for a psychiatrist to join Comprehensive Healthcare in a leadership role that combines both clinical and administrative responsibilities. The Medical Director will support our Chief Medical Officer in developing and supervising our entire medical services team, which includes physician assistants, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and psychiatrists. As Comprehensive continues to grow, the Medical Director will assist with developing new programs, interviewing and hiring staff, refining clinical procedures, and supporting our medical providers’ training & professional development plans. In addition to these administrative duties, the Medical Director will also maintain a caseload and participate in the call & rounding rotations for our inpatient facilities in Yakima. As this is a brand-new position, there is some flexibility to tailor specific duties and responsibilities to your interests. Having strong clinical & operational skillsets and the ability to transition fluidly between supportive and supervisory tasks will be essential in this role.

Medical Director duties may include:

  • supporting the Chief Medical Officer with administrative & leadership duties
  • providing direct treatment services to clients, including completing psychiatric evaluations, prescribing & monitoring psychotropic medications, and educating clients about their treatment
  • participating in on-call and rounding rotations for our inpatient facilities
  • providing clinical supervision to members of the medical services team
  • assisting with expanding existing services & developing new programs to meet the needs of our clients & communities
  • coordinating with the Chief Medical Officer to ensure appropriate clinical & medical treatment standards are maintained and to identify areas for improvement in care quality
  • completing all documentation & charting in a timely, client-centered manner

Qualifications:

  • completion of MD or DO degree and eligible for Physician & Surgeon License or Osteopathic Physician & Surgeon license in Washington State
  • federal DEA registration
  • Preferred: Board Certified or Board Eligible in general or child & adolescent psychiatry
  • Minimum: Board Certified or Board Eligible in family medicine or another specialty with significant experience providing mental health or substance use treatment
