Woodland Clinic Medical Group in Woodland CA is currently recruiting for a Chief Medical Officer.

General Description

The CMO is responsible for overseeing the professional medical aspects of the health care services provided to patients cared for by Professionals in Dignity Health Medical Foundation’s Woodland Region. As a member of the Woodland Clinic Medical Group’s leadership team, the CMO develops and implements strategic goals to achieve exceptional results in quality improvement and management programs followed by physicians and advance practice providers (APPs) in the pursuit of high quality care, high patient satisfaction, and physician engagement. The CMO has responsibility for the quality of clinical care provided and for cultivating physician relationships while working collaboratively with Dignity Health Medical Foundation, Dignity Health and CommonSpirit Health leadership. 

Provides superior clinical leadership, mentors physicians, and ensures Woodland Clinic Medical Group is recruiting and retaining the finest physicians and APPs.  Develops policies, practices and systems to monitor and implement quality control standards and measurements while ensuring compliance with regulatory agency standards and requirements.  The CMO ensures that all actions taken and methods to produce the results outlined below incorporate and promote the Dignity Health Mission, Vision, Values and Woodland Clinic Medical Group’s values based service standards. 

Key Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Oversees clinical quality and appropriateness of care programs, including peer review program and clinic quality and operations committee.
  • Direct oversight of clinical cost containment, including utilization management, and design, development and implementation of dashboards and processes to improve referral management, ED utilization, LOS, and bed days.
  • Direct responsibility for patient experience. Physician lead for service recovery and patient complaint resolution, and ensures patient care access and expectations are met.
  • Direct responsibility for practice transformation, including optimizing team based model of care delivery. This includes participation in the development, planning, and implementation of new care delivery models and serviced lines.
  • Collaborates with the group leadership in the development of Woodland Clinic Medical Group’s operational, marketing, and other strategy planning.
  • Responsible for quality policy development and implementation.
  • Monitors quality and appropriates of clinical care, and reviews dashboards and reports related to physician quality of care, productivity, and patient, physician, and employee satisfaction with physicians on a regular basis.
  • Collaborates with Dignity Health Medical Foundation operations team in helping to resolve questions and concerns from patients, staff, physicians, and referring physicians regarding clinical matters. And provides direction and advice to administrators to resolve such matters.
  • CMO will serve as a Liaison with Dignity Health leadership, Woodland Memorial Hospital leadership, Yolo County Medical Directors, and community based clinics and medical practices.

Qualifications

  • Medical degree from an accredited university
  • Is Board Certified with a current and unrestricted California medical license
  • Minimum seven years’ experience as a practicing physician in a multi-specialty group practice setting
  • Three to five years clinical management experience in a multi-specialty medical group practice setting
  • Superior leadership skills in cultivating a high performing team and in developing and maintaining excellent partnerships with physicians and staff
  • Demonstrated record of successfully leading and facilitating sensitive and complex matters with physicians, hospitals, leaders, and staff
  • Is a visible and accessible leader who consistently displays a professional, approachable and selfless demeanor at all times to all
  • Experience in organizational change initiatives
  • Ability to successfully navigate all levels in a matrixed organization
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and cultivate physicians in support of Dignity Health’s and Dignity Health Medical Foundation’s vision, values, strategy, and initiatives
