Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Mount Auburn Hospital, a 220-bed regional teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School serving the greater metropolitan Boston-Cambridge area, is seeking an outstanding leader, clinician, and teacher for the position of Chair of Medicine. Leading a Department of more than 400 professionals including an exceptionally talented faculty of physicians, physicians’ assistants, and nurse practitioners, the Chair oversees the ACGME-accredited residency in internal medicine and medical student teaching in affiliation with Harvard Medical School. The Chair oversees clinical services in 12 divisions within the Department that are responsible for approximately half of the Hospital’s annual admissions.  Department members practice both at the main Hospital campus as well as in outpatient offices throughout the Hospital's metropolitan Boston service area seeing more than 50,000 patients annually. The Division of Geriatrics with seven full-time attending staff has a rotating fellowship in geriatrics. The Department is distinguished by a full spectrum of critical care services with a pulmonary/critical care specialist team along with a nationally recognized cardiac program offering both invasive and non-invasive care. Academically the Department is distinguished with faculty research and publications especially noted in infectious disease, travel medicine as well as programs in faculty development and the Rabkin Fellowship for Faculty Development.  The Hospital is a founding member of Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH), a $5.5B, 13 hospital health care system serving eastern Massachusetts that recently received approval from all state and federal regulatory agencies and began joint operations on March 1, 2019.

Candidates must be eligible based on education and experience for an academic appointment at the rank of Professor on the Harvard Medical School faculty and must be board-certified. The successful candidate will report to the Hospital President and have a demonstrated track record of academic and administrative success including a commitment to clinical quality and patient safety along with the ability to sustain and grow a culture of collaboration, teamwork, and achievement.
