New Transplant Surgery Opportunity in Fort Worth

HCA North Texas is now Medical City Healthcare. We're one of the largest, most comprehensive healthcare providers in North Texas, but our 14 hospitals, seven off-campus hospital ERs and six children's urgent care centers are unified under the Medical City Healthcare brand.

Job Summary:
The Medical City Transplant Institute in Fort Worth, Texas is looking for a Transplant Surgeon to join a dynamic and expanding kidney and kidney-pancreas program. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to join a diverse and progressive practice, which has grown to become one of the nation's top kidney transplant programs doing over 100 kidney transplants a year with better than expected 1 year outcomes and one of the nation's fastest transplant rates. A pancreas program was recently initiated and is now active. The individual would incorporate into a high-volume kidney transplant practice with a strong focus on living donor transplantation and maximizing opportunities to utilize surgically and/or medically high-risk deceased donors. The successful candidate should have acquired experience in kidney transplantation, laparoscopic donor nephrectomy and dialysis access. Experience in pancreas transplantation, use of low weight pediatric donors and robotic donor nephrectomy would be advantageous.
The Medical City Fort Worth Surgical Director will enjoy a strong, collegial relationship with a larger team of HCA North Texas Transplant Surgeons from the Medical City Dallas Transplant Institute. The Medical City Dallas Transplant Institute has had long standing kidney transplant, heart transplant, and bone marrow transplant programs. Over the last three years the kidney program has expanded rapidly and successfully to over 140 kidneys per year under the guidance of a new Director of Abdominal Transplantation and the addition of two other experienced surgeons.

Basic Qualifications:
Qualified candidates must possess a Medical Doctorate, be board certified or eligible in general surgery, be able to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment, possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to foster strong relationships with referring physicians.

Preferred qualifications:
Fully trained in an American Society of Transplant Surgery (ASTS) approved fellowship and the ability to meet UNOS criteria for a primary kidney transplant surgeon. 5 years of post-fellowship transplant experience is preferred.

Additional Qualifications: The candidate must acquire a TX Medical License before the start date.
