The Ohio State University College of Medicine seeks an accomplished and innovative scientist to serve as its Executive Vice Chair and Endowed Chair of Research in the Department of Pathology. This is an excellent opportunity for a collaborative leader to build the research capacity in the department by recruiting additional investigators, establishing partnerships across the institution and developing translational research opportunities with world-class academic physicians and scientists.

The Ohio State Pathology Department is one of 19 clinical departments with the College of Medicine. There are currently 93 Pathology faculty within the following branches: Anatomic, Clinical, Community, Experimental, Molecular and Pediatric. The department moved from 46th to 37th in the Blue Ridge NIH funding from 2017 to 2018. The major areas of research are tumor biology, carcinogenesis & metastasis, UV carcinogenesis, cancer immunology, wound healing, stem cell biology, HIV, HCV and herpes virus infection, and bacterial pathogenesis with particular national reputation in digital pathology.

Ohio State College of Medicine is a key component of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, one of the largest and most comprehensive health sciences campuses and universities in the world. The medical center is comprised of seven hospitals and more than 100 clinical sites, 2,100 clinical faculty, 800 residents and fellows and 20 research centers and institutes with 25 core research laboratories that promote collaboration among experts from virtually all departments, divisions, and branch campuses of Ohio State.

The successful candidate will be an accomplished MD, MD/PhD or PhD scientist in a discipline relevant to the department of Pathology. Candidates should have an active NIH-funded research program, be able to recruit, mentor and build partnerships, and possess strong leadership acumen. Reporting to the Chair of Pathology, the Executive Vice Chair will establish the research program vision and advocate for research locally and nationally. It is anticipated that the Executive Vice Chair and Endowed Chair of Research will work in close partnership with other senior leadership in the Department of Pathology and across the College of Medicine.
