CHAIR OF EMERGENCY MEDICINE

PHOENIX, ARIZONA

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Valleywise Health (formerly Maricopa Integrated Health System) is seeking qualified individuals to serve as Chair. The position would include employment through District Medical Group Inc., a 450+ physician not-for-profit faculty practice group which exclusively contracts to provide clinical, administrative and teaching services to Valleywise Health. As a clinical partner with the Creighton University School of Medicine Phoenix Regional Campus, this individual would have the opportunity to serve as the regional Department Chair.

Valleywise Health serves the largest county in Arizona with twelve graduate medical education programs including 42 emergency medicine residents. Valleywise Health Medical Center is one of only 14 hospitals nationwide verified by the American College of Surgeons for Adult (Level I) and Pediatric (Level II) trauma care, and by the American Burn Association for burn care.

The hospital primarily serves a safety-net population and offers a great mix of teaching opportunity, high patient acuity, and varied pathology. Valleywise Health and District Medical Group (DMG) recently entered the Creighton University Arizona Health Education Alliance (alliance.creighton.edu) which will become part of the largest teaching program in Arizona. Additionally, Valleywise Health maintains strong affiliations with the University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix including academic EM department leadership, and other teaching institutions in the Valley.

The Chairperson will be responsible for departmental administration, clinical activities, and oversight of academics/graduate medical education. The candidate should have a strong track record of professional collaboration, successful administrative experience, and a vision for growth.
