Overview

The Internal Medicine Residency Program Director will lead the continued development of the internal medicine residency program and will be responsible for meeting all aspects of the continued ACGME accreditation process.  In addition, the Program Director will lead the administration and operations of the program, including all activities related to recruitment, selection, supervision, advising, evaluation and advancement of residents.  HonorHealth welcomes innovation and creativity.

The HonorHealth Internal Medicine Residency program was created to meet a growing community need for high-quality internal medicine physicians.  The HonorHealth Internal Medicine Residency was founded in 2016 and proudly graduated six residents in the 2019 inaugural class.  There are currently 18 internal medicine residents (six per year), one chief resident (PGY 4), and four preliminary residents.  In 2019, HonorHealth launched a Cardiology fellowship and continues to grow Graduate Medical Education programs.  The broader faculty is a combination of employed and community-based physicians.

As a role model for residents in the clinical practice of internal medicine, and to support the excellent reputation of HonorHealth, it is critical the Program Director supports the mission and values of HonorHealth in all aspects of direct patient care and scholarly activities.  

Position Qualifications

  • MD or DO
  • Associate or Program Director experience preferred
  • Minimum five years educational experience in a direct teaching capacity acceptable to the review committee (ACGME requirement for Program Director) 
  • Eligible for Arizona State Medical License
  • Board-certified in Internal Medicine, ABIM
  • Demonstrated leadership in curriculum development, evaluation methodology, teaching, and mentoring residents
  • Demonstrated excellence in an overall mix of skills including clinical care, clinical teaching, and scholarly activity that advance clinical medicine and institutional service
  • History of educational scholarship
  • Ability to work within a hybrid system of employed and contracted faculty
