The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB)
UTMB, established in 1891, is comprised of 4 schools and 3 institutes. The Medical School enrolls 230 students per class; 1 in 6 Texas physicians have trained at UTMB. The Pediatric Residency program at UTMB currently fills 12 positions per year. Shriners Hospitals for Children-Galveston, is an internationally recognized center for research and treatment of pediatric burn injury. Metabolism, including endocrinology, is one of the 6 core research areas.
The UTMB main campus, including the Medical School, and Shriners Hospitals for Children-Galveston, are located on Galveston Island, just 50 miles south of Houston. A second UTMB campus is located in League City, 25 miles north of Galveston Island along the I-45 corridor. The Galveston area offers a mild, subtropical climate where the average annual temperature is 74 degrees. The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at UTMB is seeking a full-time Academic Pediatric Endocrinologist. The new faculty member will provide inpatient and outpatient pediatric endocrinology and diabetes services at UTMB, maintain medical school teaching responsibilities, with opportunities to develop research interests.
Position Education / Requirements
All qualified candidates will have completed a pediatric endocrinology fellowship program, be board certified in Pediatrics and be BC/BE in Pediatric Endocrinology. Salary and academic rank is based on qualifications and experience. UTMB also provides exceptional benefits and retirement programs.
