Memorial Healthcare System is seeking a physiatrist with cancer rehabilitation training and/or specialization to join the team of general and sub-specialized adult and pediatric physiatrists at the Memorial Rehabilitation institute. All candidates should be BE/BC in PM&R and while not mandatory, those with fellowship training are strongly encouraged to apply. The selected candidate will provide outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation to cancer patients and survivors to address a wide range of symptoms and diagnoses including fatigue, weakness, poor endurance, decline in balance, postural changes, joint stiffness pain, difficulty with walking, numbness in hands or feet and scar tissue reduction. An interest in teaching is also welcomed, as Memorial Healthcare System accepted its first year of PM&R residents in the summer of 2018.

As cancer treatment improves, the number of cancer survivors continues to grow. To meet the needs of an increasing cancer/survivor population, a cancer rehabilitation specialist is able to work in concert with the oncology team(s) to coordinate care and maximize patient outcomes. The cancer specialist can focus on common ailments, which can lead to significant dysfunction if not addressed properly and timely, that may arrive during chemotherapy, radiation therapy and/or after surgery. Proper utilization of a cancer rehabilitation specialist can lead to improved patient outcomes from both an oncologic perspective, being able to complete cycles of treatment on time, as well as a rehabilitative perspective, minimizing pain, improving function, and returning to an active lifestyle.

This is a full-time employed position with the multispecialty Memorial Physician Group. The position offers competitive benefits and a compensation package that is commensurate with training and experience. Professional malpractice and medical liability are covered under sovereign immunity.
