Chief Medical Officer
Responsibilities: Provides executive leadership in facilitating medical staff interactions with Hospital Administration and the Governing Board to assure effective delivery of quality medical care, consistent with the mission and vision of University Hospital. The CMO works closely with both administrative staff and members of the medical staff, and its leadership, to maintain the high quality of medical care and to promote medical staff participation in the hospital. Oversees the Medical Staff and Education Office, and ensures the integrity and effectiveness of the credentialing process. The CMO is responsible for leading University Hospital’s efforts to be survey ready and compliant with TJC requirements.
Qualifications: Must be licensed as a physician in the State of New Jersey. Significant practice experience in a board certified specialty required. Eight (8) years of progressively more responsible experience in a healthcare environment strongly preferred. At least five years of leadership experience in an academic medical setting preferred. Master’s degree in Healthcare, or Business Administration preferred. Ability to act as an effective agent for change; recognizes the need for change, adapts and inspires others to adapt. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Demonstrated leadership ability and interpersonal effectiveness required to work collaboratively with multiple disciplines. Ability to analyze complex problems and develop recommendations and solutions required.
