PHYSICIAN - URGENT CARE CENTER
SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Urgent Care Medical Director, coordinates the care of pediatric patients in the outpatient and the urgent care settings managing acute, chronic, surgical and congenital musculoskeletal conditions. The Physician is responsible for providing musculoskeletal care in the urgent care setting, including fracture treatment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Evaluates and diagnose pediatric musculoskeletal conditions, including traumatic injuries (fractures and dislocations), infections, and others.
• Performs therapeutic procedures, such as non-operative outpatient orthopedic procedures; including fracture and dislocation reduction; injections and aspirations; splinting; application and removal of casts and other orthopedic appliances as needed. OIC will provide fracture management/reduction training to ensure competency.
• Orders, reviews and interprets diagnostic studies.
• Competent at administering and managing patients receiving conscious sedation for fracture/dislocation reductions performed in the urgent care.
• Manages non-surgical orthopedic problems independently; consults with orthopedic surgeons regarding surgical problems and follow up.
• Takes patient histories, assessments, and develops a plan of care based on evidence base care.
• Makes independent decisions following California laws and regulations.
• Documents medical information and completes charts on timely basis.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members.
• Works effectively with physician assistants, nurse practitioners, physicians and other team members to meet comprehensive care needs.
• Provides patient and family education.
• Maintains ongoing personal and professional education.
• Conducts chart reviews for advanced practice providers.
• May act as clinical preceptor to physician assistants and nurse practitioners.
• Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Graduated from an accredited medical school and residency program AND have a current unrestricted valid license to practice medicine in the State of California, including DEA license, NPI, ACLS and PALS.
• Fluoroscopy X-Ray Supervisor and Operator Certificate, issued by the California Department of Public Health.
• Must be comfortable seeing pediatric patients who are between the ages of 2 and 18 years of age.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Completion of an accredited fellowship in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Sports Medicine, or Med/Peds combined preferred.
• Board eligible/certification in specialty area preferred.
• Experience as an Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine or Sports Medicine preferred.
• Proficiency in musculoskeletal ultrasound guided procedures and imaging.
• Coordinate and collaborate with musculoskeletal specialists at OIC and UCLA in an integrated multi-specialty organization.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be flexible and able to adapt to rapid changes in pace, volume and schedule changes needed to accommodate operational needs of the organization.
• Must be willing to occasionally increase/add clinics.
• Must be available to work variable shift schedules including some weekend days and rotating between Outpatient Clinic and Urgent Care Center.

Position: Regular, Full-time.

Urgent Care Center Hours of Operations:
- Monday - Tuesday from 8:00am to 7:00pm
- Saturday & Sunday from 9:00am to 8:00pm
- Holidays from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
