Boston Children’s Hospital

General Pediatrics

Positions Available

The Division of General Pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital seeks BC/BE general pediatricians to join our growing ambulatory programs in the Division of General Pediatrics. Three positions are available: a general pediatrician with a primary care focus, a complex care pediatrician and a child abuse pediatrician. All three positions will provide teaching, clinical research opportunities and mentorship. There is also potential for leadership and active participation in the development of integrated systems of care. Fellowship training and/or prior experience is preferred.

Boston Children's Primary Care Center serves as the major continuity clinic site for the Boston Combined Residency in Pediatrics and is a patient-centered medical home for many children living in poverty or with complex health needs. The practice values innovation and has a vigorous quality improvement program. There is emphasis on improving systems that support value-based care. Primary care is provided at both hospital and community sites.

The Complex Care Service (CCS) provides comprehensive, coordinated care across the continuum to children with medical complexity in both inpatient and ambulatory settings. Children cared for by CCS generally have multiple organ systems actively involved, are often dependent on technology, and have developmental disabilities. They are frequently medically fragile, high utilizers of health care services and their families have need for support. Experience working with children with medical complexity is desirable. A passion to work with this population of children and their families is essential.

The Child Protection Program (CPT) physician will work with Board Certified Child Abuse pediatricians, social workers and psychologists on a multidisciplinary team that serves the hospital and the Boston area.  Responsibilities will include inpatient and outpatient expert consultation on cases of possible abuse and neglect, as well the provision of clinical care to children and adolescents in the Boston Children’s Hospital Foster Care Clinic.  Physicians in CPT also provide education to Harvard Medical School students, residents, and staff of all disciplines within the hospital.  Ideal candidates have excellent clinical skills, experience working with a multidisciplinary team, interest in participating in clinical research, and experience and comfort in the medical-legal aspects of child abuse.

Salary and benefits are competitive.

Boston Children’s Hospital is a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School and the pediatric staff will obtain an academic appointment at the level of Instructor or above.
