The Department of Dermatology at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University is recruiting for a one-year Clinical Education Fellowship position. Candidates must have completed their dermatology residency training up to PGY-4 or PGY-5 in the United States, be board eligible/board-certified in Dermatology and eligible for appointment at Brown University as Assistant Professor. This is a unique academic offering, seeking dermatologists who are passionate about teaching, training and mentoring and those who would consider a future career as program directors or extraordinary clinician-teachers. The position is designed as 50% clinical time (as attending dermatologist) and 50% academic protected time as a fellow (PGY equivalent). The clinical effort is in outpatient clinics and/or inpatient consults based on the candidate’s preference. The academic effort will include: working closely with the Program Directors, Associate Program Director, and residency coordinators at Rhode Island Hospital and Roger Williams Medical Center; building clinical schedules, didactic and other hands-on curricula, and extra-curricular activities; participating and leading teaching and training; tracking milestones and core competency discussions; interacting with the GME and ACGME; and innovating in education through research and program development. Educational research will be strongly supported, with mentoring available for study design, IRB submission, statistical analysis, and publishing in medical education.

Located in Providence, the historic ‘creative capital’ of Rhode Island, Brown University was founded in 1764 and is an Ivy League university offering a world-class college, graduate school, medical school, school of public health, and school of engineering.  Affiliated with top-notch health systems at Lifespan, Care New England and Charter Care hospitals, Brown offers a myriad of patient care and research opportunities.  Faculty will be recommended for appointments from Brown University’s Warren Alpert Medical School and Rhode Island Hospital/Miriam Hospital.

Interested candidates should send a brief letter of interest and curriculum vitae to Abrar A. Qureshi, MD, MPH, Professor and Chair, Department of Dermatology, Warren Alpert Medical School and Rhode Island Hospital/Miriam Hospital at kate_lada@brown.edu.
