The Department of Anesthesiology of the LSU Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in New Orleans is seeking applicants for an academic faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor (clinical track). A significant percentage of effort will comprise physician leadership of perioperative services at University Medical Center – New Orleans (UMC-NO). The faculty member will provide oversight and guidance for performance improvement initiatives, be a staunch advocate for patient safety, and be a champion for providing an excellent patient experience. Daily activities will include oversight of faculty anesthesiologists and hospital based CRNAs, collaboration with surgical colleagues and communication with hospital leadership. Responsibilities will also include ensuring that all anesthesiology faculty, residents and students comply with hospital policies, peer review of medical cases as needed, and standardization of protocols. The faculty member should have a passion for clinical teaching and mentorship of junior faculty. This position will also entail some effort in the direct provision of clinical services and resident supervision at UMC-NO.
Required Qualifications:
· Board certified in Anesthesiology
· Licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana prior to the start date
· Academic credentials for appointment at the rank of associate professor or above
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience in a busy academic hospital that includes Level 1 trauma services
· Experience in management of physicians, CRNAs and perioperative services
· Demonstrated experience in designing quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
Academic rank will be determined in accordance with School of Medicine and LSU System criteria.
