PHYSICIAN (Multiple Positions)

Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER)

FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION (FDA)

Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)

The FDA’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research is recruiting to fill multiple Physician positions in a variety of specialties. Specialties may include: Cardiology; Oncology/Hematology; Infectious Disease; Neurology; Internal, Family, Emergency, or Transfusion Medicine, etc.

CBER's mission is to protect and enhance the public health through the regulation of biological and related products including blood, vaccines, allergenics, tissues, and cellular and gene therapies. Biologics, in contrast to drugs that are chemically synthesized, are derived from living sources (such as humans, animals, and microorganisms), are not easily identified or characterized, and many are manufactured using biotechnology. These products often represent cutting-edge biomedical research and, in time, may offer the most effective means to treat a variety of medical illnesses and conditions that presently have few or no other treatment options.

Physicians at CBER serve as clinical experts in the review/evaluation of trials and clinical development programs for investigational biologic products for safety, biological activity, and efficacy. They also have an important role in the approval process for biologic products by virtue of their extensive knowledge of clinical trial design and evaluation of results. In addition, physician hired at CBER recommend actions on Investigational New Drug Applications (INDs), Biologics License Applications (BLAs), New Drug Applications (NDAs), Investigational Device Exemptions (IDEs), Pre-Market Approval Applications (PMAs), or 510(k) submissions. Specific duties and grade level of each position varies depending on selecting Office.
