As the multi-specialty group practice for the faculty of the University of Minnesota Medical School, University of Minnesota Physicians has more than 950 physicians and 1,600 health professionals, providing clinical care in over 100 specialty and sub-specialty areas. Our mission is three-fold: delivering exceptional patient care, advancing medicine through research, and training the next generation of health professionals.

University of Minnesota Physicians is seeking board-certified Endocrinologists to support the expansion of our Endocrinology services across the continuum of complexities. With this expansion to capacity throughout our community and university affiliated clinics, our new Endocrinologists will be joining a network of 12 academic Endocrinologists or working independently with a loose association to the other community based specialists within the system.

We are looking for an individual who will provide high-level patient-centered care who will align the goals and objectives of the M Health Fairview organization to achieve exceptional patient outcomes.

Scope of Practice:

The Endocrinologist will be an integral team member in the development and implementation of an Endocrinology service line in the M Health Fairview Care system. The ultimate goal is to provide exceptional care for patients across the full continuum of health care settings in the system. This role will be starting mainly in the outpatient, clinical setting and will encompass a full spectrum of care, including, but not limited to: diagnosis and management of diabetes and osteroporsis as well as disorders of the thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, and parathyroid glands.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Consults with patients to determine the appropriate course of treatment
  • Perform medical procedures as necessary
  • Assess patient health through interviews and physical examinations.
  • Ordering/ interpreting/ monitoring diagnostic tests on medical condition to determine diagnosis
  • Prescribe medications and treatments plans
  • Facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals and medical facilities
  • Attends Leadership meetings as deemed necessary

In collaboration with the system medical director and other system Endocrinology care leaders, these individuals will also be responsible for oversight and organization of the Endocrinology care program within the clinic while keeping the continuum of care progression at the forefront. In collaboration with administrative and clinical leaders, these individuals will also be responsible to assure implementation of best practice clinical standards.

Additional opportunities for research and teaching may be available.

Expertise, Credentials and Qualifications:

Expertise should be comprised of a medical degree, endocrinology care experience and a desire to work collaboratively in providing for the endocrine service needs of patients at M Health Fairview.

In addition, qualified applicants must also possess the following:

  • Medical Doctor (MD)
  • Current Medical License
  • Board Certified Physician in Endocrinology or Board Eligible Physician. If not yet certified, expectation is to acquire certification within one year from hire.
  • Advanced knowledge of care diagnosis and treatment
