The Pediatric Emergency Department at St. Joseph’s Health Medical Center, which includes St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, cares for over 40,000 children annually, is located just 20 minutes from Manhattan, and offers a state-of-the-art helipad. Currently, we have 2 openings for BC/BE Pediatric Emergency Medicine trained physicians to join our group and become part of our prestigious practice of 7 PEM trained physicians. We have 2 APNs who also provide care in our 14-bed dedicated Pediatric ED with a separate 5 bed trauma unit, and offer a full inpatient Pediatric unit, NICU, PICU and complete Pediatric sub-specialists support. In addition, we are supported by both Emergency Medicine and Pediatric residents, as well as medical students who work alongside of us.

Our department is also the site of ALTO, the alternatives to opioid program. The ALTO team is very involved in assisting other hospitals and emergency departments across the country in the development of similar programs. We have close relationships with political leaders locally and in Washington, and work with them to manage the opioid crisis. In addition, we are the site of the first accredited Geriatric Emergency department. We are involved with EMS, have a mass casualty vehicle and are partnered with paramedics.  Academically, we have an ACGME approved Emergency Medicine residency program and an ACGME approved Pediatric residency program.  Our physicians and residents are involved in many open access education forums, research, and have published numerous articles. We provide ultrasound training and make use of simulation for residents throughout the institution.
