The Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Division of Thoracic and Esophageal Surgery in the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at Allegheny General Hospital is seeking applicants for a position as a general thoracic surgeon.  

Candidate Requirements:

  • Extensive Minimally Invasive experience in lung and esophageal procedures

  • Interest and expertise in airway surgery desirable

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience beyond training in thoracic surgery preferred

  • Must fully participate in resident education, both as a clinical and a research mentor

An academic appointment at Drexel University College of Medicine is available and will be provided commensurate with experience, training and teaching activities.

Allegheny General Hospital is a large academic medical center in Pittsburgh, PA.  It has the oldest residency program in thoracic surgery in the Pittsburgh area. The Division of Thoracic Surgery has three full time faculty and will expand to four faculty members. The division enjoys a busy clinical practice with a heavy emphasis on minimally invasive and robotic procedures for lung and esophageal procedures.

Job Requirements

  • Medical degree – MD, DO or foreign equivalent
  • Eligible for licensure in the state of Pennsylvania
  • Completion of an accredited fellowship program in thoracic surgery
  • Board certification/eligibility in thoracic surgery
