Carilion Clinic, headquartered in Roanoke, Virginia, is searching for a second Orthopaedic fellowship trained Foot & Ankle Surgeon to join the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Responsibilities include care of the complete range of foot and ankle problems with very infrequent general orthopaedic and trauma call (full support of an orthopaedic trauma service in place). Operations are performed at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital a 700-bed academic/tertiary referral medical center with a Level 1 Trauma program. Orthopaedic residents from nearby University of Virginia complete a total of four, 10-week rotations in Roanoke during the PGY-3 and PGY-4 years.

The Carilion Clinic Orthopaedic group includes 40+ Physicians and 25 Physician extenders in 10 subspecialty sections providing patient centered care throughout the region.

This position offers the opportunity to benefit from an academic practice setting practicing with many of the advantages of a smaller community practice in a state-of-the-art facility, supported by a large academic institution. Surgeons have academic appointments through the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. Research interest is supported. New graduates are encouraged to apply.

Minimum requirements include:

  • Board eligible/certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, or the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery
  • Fellowship trained in Foot & Ankle Surgery
