Community

Welcome to Detroit

Over 5 million call Destination Detroit home. That’s because Southeast Michigan offers a diverse, economically attractive location with world-class arts, culture and recreation. From the energy of America’s Comeback City to the comforts of nationally-ranked suburban communities, we make every kind of professional feel welcome.  With hundreds of miles of shoreline, inland lakes and rivers nearby, we offer some of the world’s best recreational opportunities

Arts and Entertainment

The Detroit region is at once an established and growing center for arts and culture, making it a popular destination for tourists and residents alike. In addition to housing several burgeoning artist communities the Detroit region is home to more than 30 art museums, most notably the Detroit Institute of Arts, the sixth-largest fine arts museum in the United States.

With more than 40 theaters the Detroit region is second only to New York City for theater seats east of the Mississippi River. Detroit is home to the beautifully restored Fox Theatre and Max M. Fisher Music Center, which is home to the world renowned Detroit Symphony Orchestra under the musical direction of Leonard Slatkin.

Sports and Recreation

Downtown Detroit is home to three magnificent venues: Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions football team, Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers baseball team and Joe Louis Arena, home of the Detroit Red Wings hockey team.

It’s no wonder Sporting News rated the Detroit region (Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Ypsilanti) as one of the top sports cities in the U.S. and USA Today readers voted Detroit the “Best City for Sports” in 2014
