UTMB Health is a billion-dollar health science center comprised of four schools (the School of Medicine, the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, the School of Health Professions, and the School of Nursing), three institutes and over 10 exceptional research centers.  UTMB was also the first academic health center in Texas and is home to the state’s first schools of medicine, nursing and allied health sciences. For 125 years, the university has maintained a forward-thinking spirit that has enabled it to serve its students, its patients and all Texans in innovative ways.

UTMB’s Rheumatology Division - At UTMB, the Division of Rheumatology provides the highest quality of care to patients with rheumatic diseases while training fellows, residents and students utilizing up-to-date and evidence- based knowledge of disease processes and treatments.  The Division is currently involved in clinical and basic research in antiphospholipid syndrome, systemic lupus, and performing clinical trials in rheumatoid arthritis and gout. We are also a research site for a Treat-to-Target research trial which is a NIH sponsored trial out of Harvard.

Rheumatology Faculty - Physician faculty members will mentor and supervise medical students, residents and fellows while caring for patients in the inpatient and outpatient settings at the UTMB campus and clinic locations.  Rheumatology faculty will also participate in clinical trials.  All faculty must be able to obtain a Texas state medical license and be board certified or board eligible in Rheumatology.

UTMB offers a negotiable base salary that is determined by Academic rank and experience and an obtainable RVU bonus program. Superior state benefits and retirement program along with relocation and other incentives are also provided.
