Hospitalists (multiple positions) to provide medical care to patients of Sioux Falls, SD and the surrounding area.  M.D., or equivalent foreign medical degree, as well as completion of a residency in Internal Medicine.  Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in South Dakota and BC/BE. 

Job Title:                      Hospitalists (multiple positions)

Job Description:           Diagnose, treat, or provide continuous care to hospital inpatients.  Duties include examination, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitative services.  More specific duties include but are not limited to: prescribing medications or treatment regimens to hospital inpatients; admitting patients for hospital stays; writing patient discharge summaries and send them to primary care physicians; conducting discharge planning and discharging patients; ordering or interpreting the results of tests such as laboratory tests and radiographs (x-rays); communicating with patients’ primary care physicians upon admission, when treatment plans change, or at discharge to maintain continuity and quality of care; referring patients to medical specialists; social services or other professionals as appropriate; participating in continuing education activities to maintain or enhance knowledge and skills and attending inpatient consultations in areas of specialty.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:                    Medical degree or foreign equivalent in Medicine

Training:                      36 month Internal Medicine Residency. Number of months of training required is dependent upon the number of months necessary to complete medical training leading to completion of a residency program in Internal Medicine.

Experience:                  None

License:                       South Dakota state medical license or ability to obtain. BC/BE
