Washington University School of Medicine is seeking a dynamic and experienced physician scientist to serve as Chair of the top-10 ranked (U.S. News & World Report) Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN). Reporting to the Dean of the School of Medicine, the chair will have overall responsibility for strategy, clinical, research and educational program development, and operations within the department of OB/GYN. He/she will oversee the continued growth and development of the department s educational excellence and outstanding clinical programs and will expand ground-breaking basic, clinical, and translational research. The sound financial position of the department will afford the chair ample opportunity to invest resources to further the department s tripartite mission in advancing women s health.
In its nearly 120-year history, the department of OB/GYN has had seven chairs. The chair serves as a member of the Executive Faculty, which is responsible for developing and approving medical school strategy, priorities, and policies for the Washington University Board of Trustees approval. Voting members of the Executive Faculty include all 20 department chairs as well as three elected faculty.

Qualifications
Applicants must hold AMBS board certification in obstetrics and gynecology with an MD, MD/PhD or equivalent degree and should be at the rank of Associate Professor or above. Candidates should have a track record of clinical excellence, research and have demonstrated a strong commitment to medical education and dedication to promoting scholarship and research opportunities for students, residents, fellows and faculty members. The ability to recruit, develop, mentor and manage academic faculty and staff across the clinical, research and education missions is essential. Prior administrative experience having served in the capacity of Chair, Vice Chair, Section/Division Chief, or Center Director within a department of OB/GYN with budgetary responsibility is strongly preferred.
