We are currently accepting applications and referrals for a distinguished leader to serve as our Chief Medical Officer. The appropriate candidate will exceed the responsibilities below and match the qualifications listed.

Responsibilities:

  •  Acts as the Chief Medical Officer for the Hospital and advisor to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).  Assist in resolving issues of medical staff and facility administration issues as they affect the clinical departments.  Participates in this process with the appropriate department leadership and the medical staff.
     
  • Directs and coordinates all clinical functions through the chairpersons/chiefs of the various clinical departments. Ensures adequate direction and staffing for medical diagnosis and treatment of all hospital inpatients, outpatients and emergency care.
     
  • Plans, initiates, directs and coordinates the provision of quality patient care.
     
  • Develop ongoing system for continuous monitoring and evaluation of the quality and appropriateness of patient care through the supervision of the Quality Management Department.
     
  • Works closely with the organized medical staff and it's committees, the President of the Medical Board and the Chiefs of Service to assure medical staff compliance with its bylaws, with the policies of the facility and NYC Health + Hospitals, with the rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies, with the Joint Commission standards and with other appropriate directives and guidelines.
     
  • In conjunction with the President Medical Board, coordinates the process of appointment, re-appointment and delineation of clinical privileges of the medical staff and other licensed independent practitioners to ensure compliance with the Rules and Regulations and Bylaws of the Medical Staff.
  • In conjunction with the CEO, and Chiefs of Service assures the operation of graduate programs full compliance with the standards established by the ACGME, respective Residency Review Committees, and are properly integrated with the clinical service needs of the facility. Oversees and is responsible for the House Staff Office Functions, including the Credentialing and privileging of medical residents and medical students and coordination with the affiliated medical college office of Clinical Affairs and Graduate Medical Education.
     
  • Serves as the liaison between the CEO and Affiliation administration for affiliation contract matters in reference to clinical policy, staffing and education. This includes monitoring of pertinent areas of affiliation performance and reporting.
     
  • Oversees all clinical research activities conducted at the facility and assures the CEO that such activities have been approved and are being monitored in accordance with Health + Hospitals policy and procedures.
  • Coordinates planning, development, implementation and evaluation of programs and activities with multidisciplinary aspects.
     
  • Participate in the annual expense, revenue and capital budget and strategic planning process.
     
  • Participate as requested in setting the strategic direction for NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln and the NYC H+H System in its entirety promoting the interests of the facility, community and patients.
     
  • The CMO serves as liaison between the facility, medical and professional staff and the community to represent the facility and physicians when supporting our communities’ interests, and when assessing health care needs and when advocating for improving the health of the community.
     
  • Makes recommendations to the affiliate on the allocation of affiliation contract funds.
     
  • In consultation with the CEO, Affiliation administration and other parties as may be designated, conducts criteria-based performance appraisals of the Chiefs of Service.
     
  • Jointly with the CEO periodically performs a comprehensive evaluation of clinical services and related clinical support services.

Requirements:

Experienced physician with 8-10 years minimum clinical experience highly preferred.  5+ years minimum of demonstrated leadership/management experience preferred.
