Stanford Medicine seeks nominations and applications for an exceptional clinician and leader for the Senior Associate Dean (SrAD) for Clinical Affairs of the Stanford School of Medicine and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Stanford Health Care.  Stanford’s faculty has enormous impact.  Its School of Medicine is ranked number 3 for research by U.S. News and World Report, and number 1 in NIH dollars per faculty member.  Stanford Health Care is internationally recognized for care delivery, and a new 824,000 square foot hospital is set to open in October 2019. As an academic medical center with close ties to Stanford University and Silicon Valley, Stanford Medicine merges research with healthcare expertise to drive creative thinking and innovation.

This SrAD/CMO serves as the chief medical leader for adult clinical care in Stanford University School of Medicine and Stanford Health Care.  The position reports dually to the Dean of Medicine and the CEO of Stanford Health Care.  This leader jointly supports and integrates all three mission areas of Stanford Medicine – patient care, education, and research.  The SrAD/CMO has executive responsibility for multiple domains, including quality and safety, performance improvement education and training, funds flow for physician services, graduate medical education, perioperative services, network development and management, professionalism, wellness, informatics and digital health, and efficiency and cost containment.

Stanford Medicine seeks an outstanding and experienced clinical leader, with a deep understanding of the complexity of academic medicine.  The successful candidate will be an accomplished, Board Certified physician executive with 10 – 15 years of senior administrative and leadership experience at an academic medical center or academic health system.  This leader must meet requirements for licensure in California State.
