ASSISTANT CLERKSHIP DIRECTOR FOR INTERNAL MEDICINE

 

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University is currently seeking an Assistant Professor Faculty position with duties as Assistant Clerkship Director (ACD) for the division of Internal Medicine (IM), for a full-time, non-tenure appointment within the Department of Humanities, Health and Society. This position will be responsible for assistance in planning and implementation of the Internal Medicine third year clerkship, meeting the objectives of the College of Medicine by visiting the multiple sites, maintaining contact with preceptors, providing feedback and assessment of student assignments, and assisting in administrative duties required for the success of the clerkship. The assistant clerkship director role comprises approximately 50% of the duties of this position. In addition, the ACD for the IM clerkship will assist in clinical skills training in earlier parts of the curriculum, in case-based teaching, OSCEs, and in other teaching duties as assigned. This position may also provide specialty medical care at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine’s Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) or other sites as directed by the Department Chair.

Minimum qualifications include a terminal degree as a MD/DO, and board certification or eligibility for board certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) within one year of employment, a valid and unrestricted Florida Medical License or the ability to obtain a medical license in the State of Florida prior to employment, as well as a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate is also required.

Preferred qualifications include experience in academic medicine, medical student/residency teaching, or clerkship experience in internal medicine, although this is not a requirement.
