Contributes to the university’s mission through teaching, research and service, some variation by academic unit.

Major/Essential Functions
Contributes to the university’s mission through teaching, patient care, research and service.  Teaching endocrinology fellows, internal medicine residents, physician assistants and medical students.  Providing lectures and teaching sessions to fellows, residents and medical students.  Medical practice of endocrinology and diabetes and some general internal medicine. This position is responsible for inpatient consults and outpatient medical care. This includes examination of patients, ordering x-rays and laboratory tests to help make an accurate diagnosis, and planning and execution of treatment. Adhere to institutional and departmental policies and procedure.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited school of medicine with an M.D. or D.O. degree. Must have a license to practice medicine in the State of Texas or eligible for Texas medical licensure. Must have or be eligible for certificate(s) for prescribing controlled substances. Must have three years post-graduate training in primary care medicine and subspecialty training in endocrinology from accredited ACGME training programs.  Must be board certified or eligible for certification in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism.

Language Skills:
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Pay Statement
Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan on the Human Resources webpage.

Occasional Duties
Maintain or develop an academic research program in the field of endocrinology or internal medicine. May conduct inpatient internal medicine teaching rounds.
