We are currently accepting applications for a Clinical Department Administrator to enhance the operations of the Department of Anesthesia by providing oversight over a broad range of administrative functions, including oversight of the clinical, teaching and research activities along with responsibility for the administrative interface and coordination of operations with Hospital Administration and the Carver College of Medicine Administration. The successful applicant will report to the Department Chair/Executive Officer and will also work closely with the executive leadership of the Carver College of Medicine and University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

The Department of Anesthesia has its roots in the first formal anesthesiology residency program to be established at an American university. Today, the department boasts more than 80 faculty members, 60 CRNAs, 57 residents, and 12 fellows who provide clinical anesthesia services for more than 50 operating rooms at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, as well as procedural anesthesia services for Pediatrics, Radiology, and nearly 20 other surgical and non-surgical clinics and specialty suites. This broad range of services places the Department in the 99th percentile for diversity of surgical cases among U.S. hospitals.
