The Department of Emergency Medicine at Baylor Scott & White – All Saints Medical Center (BAS) in Fort Worth, Texas is seeking an enthusiastic medical educator to join our department and help lead the development of a residency program at BAS.  The Medical Center will soon be institutionally accredited by the ACGME to host residency programs and has multiple specialties preparing residency program applications. Emergency Medicine will be one of the first residencies with an anticipated starting date for the first class of July 1, 2021. The preparation for this residency program is already well underway, and the physician in this position will be a significant part of the development process.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will have a track record of strong clinical performance, leadership experience, and a demonstrated interest in program development, residency leadership, and resident education. Candidates should also have interest in medical student education and desire an academic career trajectory. Candidates must be board certified in emergency medicine (ABEM/ABOEM) and completion of an accredited residency program in emergency medicine. 

The selected physician must have an interest in academic faculty development opportunities including a one-day introductory course at the next ACGME conference. They will also be expected to annually attend the Council of Residency Directors (CORD) conference where they will continue to network and develop as an academic faculty member. They will be encouraged to complete the ACEP Teaching Fellowship in their first few years in the position.

APD / Medical Student Liaison Duties:

The APD will maintain a full-time position in the Emergency Department at BAS as well as supervise Emergency Medicine Residents, medical students, house officers from other specialties, nurses, technicians, and other health care workers in the Emergency Department at BAS while on-duty as the Emergency Attending Physician.

The APD will assist the Program Director (PD) in the development of the residency program at BAS with an anticipated start date of July, 2021. Once the residency is established and the first class is recruited, the APD will assist the PD in the following capacities:

  • Orientation and integration of the first residency class.
  • Recruiting future classes.
  • Ongoing residency and curriculum development as well as planning for senior resident years.
  • Resident feedback and evaluations.
  • Participate in Clinical Competency Committee and Program Evaluation Committee.
  • Resident didactics planning and execution.
  • Faculty planning and development.

As Medical Student Liaison, the physician in this position will be the on-site point-person for rotating medical students from TCU during their Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship (LIC).
