Merritt Hawkins has been tasked with the recruitment of one Urology physician to work at this University Medical Center. The purpose of this search is due to growth in the area which has created a need to add another urologist to the team.

The incoming physician will join the current Chief of Urology The urology group employs two solo urologists to assist with the call coverage. They round out the call coverage team which results in a 1:4 call schedule with the incoming Urologist. The group employs one PA and are in the process of hiring another PA or NP.

At the core of the urology program is their sincere commitment to enhancing the lives of every patient who comes to them for care. This highly trained team uses today’s most advanced diagnostic and surgical techniques to help patients recover from a wide range of urological conditions including:

• Artificial urinary sphincters
• Diseases of the prostate, bladder, kidney and male genitalia
• Erectile dysfunction (ED)/impotency
• Incontinence
• Infertility
• Kidney trouble
• LUTS - lower urinary tract symptoms
• Pediatric urological conditions
• Prostate problems, including BPH
• Urinary stone disease
• Urinary tract infections (UTI's)
• Urologic oncology (cancers)
• Laparoscopic surgical procedures
• daVinci Robotics Surgical System

For an incoming physician, they can expect a Monday-Friday work schedule, arriving around 8AM and leaving around 5PM. The clinic hours are blocked into 4-hour increments, and an incoming candidate can expect to see approximately 40 patients per day at the clinic. Call responsibilities include a call rotation of 1 in 4. It is noted, that it is sporadic to come in from home while on call.

The incoming Urologist will see patients in the outpatient clinic 50% of the time and the other 50% of their time will be spent conducting surgeries. The clinic is located in Saddle Brook NJ which is about 15 minutes from the hospital. The surgical volume is expected to match what the current urologist is currently doing which is 1 to 2 major cases per week, and 15 to 30 endoscopic cases per week.

There is an academic appointment associated with this job and the incoming Urologists will teach residents and medical students. They currently uses Cerner EMR and are in the process of upgrading across the system (ER, inpatient, ARU/sub-acute, outpatient therapies and clinics and VHS) to Cerner Millennium with Dragon voice recognition.
