The successful candidate will provide strategic, innovative, and operational leadership, and will have responsibility and accountability for the clinical and academic performance of all divisions within the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. A strong record of collaborative leadership and commitment to excellence in clinical and academic service is essential. Ongoing research achievement, community engagement and educational excellence are highly desirable. The successful candidate must also be committed to mentoring faculty, trainees, and medical students. In addition, (s)he will have credentials that merit appointment as Associate Professor or Professor, will have an MD or equivalent degree, will be ABOG board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology, will possess a demonstrated commitment to innovation, and will have the leadership skills necessary for guiding faculty development and advancement across research, clinical and academic missions. As a department leader, the Chair will provide an energetic vision for growing clinical volume, optimizing clinical productivity, and further highlighting sub-specialized clinical expertise. Recruitment of this department leader is part of a key strategic growth initiative; accordingly, generous resources are being dedicated to this effort.

The Department has a long tradition of excellence and expertise in many clinical domains. The faculty includes over 50 full-time faculty members, including all ABOG subspecialties. Most faculty members are employed by the Rush University Medical Group; the remaining faculty members contribute services from their private practices. The Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency Program is a fully accredited four-year training program which accommodates six residents per year and provides training to build a strong foundation in primary, subspecialty, and preventive care. Residents complete rotations in inpatient and outpatient settings at Rush as well as at urban and suburban training sites. The exposure to diverse patient populations throughout the four-year program prepares residents for subspecialty training as well as academic and private practice. Future planning includes establishment of ACGME-accredited fellowships.
