Pediatric Anesthesia in Minnesota
StartDate: ASAP

The Department of Anesthesiology at The University of Minnesota Medical School is seeking applications for a pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist to join their growing team. Applicants must be ASA board certified or board eligible in anesthesiology, with additional fellowship training in pediatric anesthesiology and additional training or experience in pediatric cardiac anesthesiology. The successful candidate will have a strong desire to teach medical students and trainees, while being comfortable working in a tertiary academic medical center seeing complex cardiac cases, including transplants and device implantation.

The Department of Anesthesiology consists of 7 divisions, 69 faculty, 29 residents, and 10 fellows across its 3 fellowship programs. The incoming Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia faculty will join the Pediatric Division within the Department of Anesthesiology. The division runs an ACGME accredited pediatric anesthesiology fellowship program and has robust faculty with specialized training and interests in cardiac anesthesia, regional anesthesia, and acute pain, chronic pain, newborn, and preemie. Pediatric cardiac cases are done at The University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital, a new, state-of-the-art, children's hospital that opened in 2011. They have a newly established heart center that supports many academic physicians with clinical and basic science research initiatives. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit supports 12 CVICU beds with approximately 1,000 admissions annually. The Pediatric CVICU is conveniently located on the same floor of the operating rooms.
  • Monday-Friday schedule, 7:30a-3:00p on most days; light call requirements with ample trainee support
  • No in-house call and call is covering only cardiac cases
