Pediatric Geneticist Opportunity with Children’s Hospital of Michigan

The Division of Genetic, Genomic, and Metabolic Disorders at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, is seeking applicants for a Clinical Geneticist. The academic rank, tenure status, and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Applicants must have a M.D. or D.O degree, be BE/BC in Clinical Genetics and certification in Pediatrics/Internal Medicine is desirable. The candidate’s primary responsibilities will include seeing patients for evaluation and/or genetic counseling in outpatient clinics and on the inpatient consultation service, supervision and teaching of medical students, genetic counseling students, residents, and fellows. Opportunities exist to pursue individual research interests. Opportunities for management of metabolic disorders and newborn screen follow up are available as well.

Children’s Hospital of Michigan is a tertiary care pediatric center for the Detroit Medical Center and is the only free standing Children’s Hospital serving Southeast Michigan. The candidate will enjoy working with a cohesive team comprising of four Clinical Geneticists, including 2 Clinical Biochemical Geneticists, 5 Genetic Counselors, 3 Dietitians, 3 Nurse Practitioners, and 2 Metabolic Nurses.

The Division is the designated site for the Newborn Screening Management Program for the State of Michigan for Inborn Errors of Metabolism and Lysosomal Storage Disorders. Cytogenetic, molecular, and biochemical genetic diagnostic laboratories complement the clinical service.
