The Cleveland Clinic, a distinguished academic healthcare system, announces its search for Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is a subset of the Ob/Gyn & Women’s Health Institute. Cleveland Clinic’s Ob/Gyn & Women’s Health Institute is committed to providing world-class care for women of all ages. In 2017-18, the institute’s gynecology program was again ranked No.5 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, and is the top-ranked program in Ohio.  

The institute’s staff participates in resident, fellow, and medical student education at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. A unique residency training program offers tracking into subspecialty areas. Fellowships are offered in gynecologic oncology, urogynecology/reconstructive pelvic surgery, reproductive endocrinology, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and specialized women’s health.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has 90 employed physicians and 42 advanced practice providers which includes a large midwifery program.  In 2018 the Department had 270,000 patient visits, more than 10,000 deliveries and over 3,500 surgeries distributed over 30 sites, 3 main tertiary care hospitals with Level 3 NICUs and 4 secondary hospitals.

The Department Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology will be a physician leader with impressive credentials who reports to the Women’s Health Institute Chair and can implement and drive the strategic mission of the Cleveland Clinic Health System.  The ideal candidate will be a servant leader with a record of excellence in clinical care, education, and scholarship as well as significant experience in leadership, administration, and program development. Duties and responsibilities of the Chair include oversight of general operations, quality and safety, and the recruitment, retention and mentoring of medical staff, administrators, educators and researchers.

Other specialties noted for national excellence include ENT and pediatrics.  Cleveland Clinic Children's offers highly specialized pediatric care in a family-centered atmosphere.  It has been ranked the best children's hospital in Ohio by Child magazine.

Cleveland Clinic was founded in 1921 as a not-for-profit group practice, integrating clinical and hospital care with research and physician education.  In addition to our Cleveland location, we have Cleveland Clinic Florida, Cleveland Clinic Nevada, Cleveland Clinic Canada, and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.  Cleveland Clinic London is also scheduled to open in February 2021.
