Physician: Interventional pain medicine.  Must have completed an ACGME accredited residency in Anesthesia or Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation as well as completed an accredited post graduate fellowship in Pain Medicine, preferably including interventional procedures.  Must be board certified or board eligible in pain medicine as defined by the ABMS.  No “orphan” board will constitute compliance with this requirement.  Must be able to obtain a full unrestricted medical license in West Virginia and have or maintain a full unrestricted DEA license as well.

Physician specializing in pain medicine will strive to diagnose and treat adult patients for acute or chronic or intractable pain management secondary to injury, age-related issues such as arthritis, obesity related joint changes that result in chronic pain, or for the pain of neoplastic disease among other underlying causes.  The practice is a consultative one in nature in that others are seeking guidance for and assistance with the management of pain.

The physician shall demonstrate familiarity with and shall incorporate into practice appropriate agreements as required under West Virginia legislative rules that govern the dispensing of controlled substances to patients seen in the clinic setting at all times.  Physician is responsible for oversight of any other licensed staff who may be involved in elements of compliance for these patients with respect to pill counts, execution of amendments to underlying contracts, random testing as required, and other requirements which may be required by employer as well.

The majority of the practice is office-based with outpatient (OP) procedures performed as scheduled under the auspices of the facility. In the case of intractable pain from neoplastic disease, the physician may and is expected to see patients who may be hospitalized for their underlying cancer-related pain.  Referrals for these patients may originate from hospice as well as oncologists or other providers.

Document all services in patient’s electronic medical record (currently EPIC based).  Review on a regular basis long-term cases that require ongoing medical attention.  As this is not an academic position, physician will closely collaborate with, and coordinate care with others in the community setting, including IM residents in training.  Participate in quality improvement, continuing education, and other patient care programs consistent with large community healthcare facilities, which may include medical students and/or IM residents.

EOE employer.  Competitive compensation with benefits.  Mail resume to: Ms. Amy Marshall, Physician Recruiter, Camden-Clark, 800 Garfield Ave, Parkersburg, WV  26101-5340.  No phone calls, faxes, or emails accepted.
