Saint Luke’s Hospital, a primary teaching hospital of University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Medicine, is currently seeking a transplant surgeon for its expanding Renal and Liver Transplant Programs. The kidney transplant program began in 1969 and was the first program in the metropolitan area. The liver transplant program at Saint Luke’s Hospital was established in November 2011 and achieved Medicare approval in its second year of operation with 100 percent patient and graft survival.

The position will work in collaboration with an experienced team comprised of three transplant hepatologists, three transplant nephrologists, three transplant surgeons, and five advance practice providers. Academic appointment at the University of Missouri–Kansas City is available commensurate with experience.

The successful candidate will have strong clinical, organizational and communication skills. He/she should be articulate, approachable and collaborative both with internal and external constituents. The candidate will share in responsibility for patient selection conferences, transplant surgeries, heptobiliary pancreatic surgery, and outreach efforts.

The successful candidate must:

  • Be BC/BE
  • Certified by the American Board of Surgery 
  • Certified by the American Society of Transplant Surgeons
  • Have or be eligible for Missouri and Kansas Medical Licenses
