Chair, Department of Surgery
Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Department of Surgery. The new Chair will report directly to the Dean of the medical school with accountability to Northwestern Medicine clinical leadership. In this role, the Chair is responsible for oversight of the academic, research, clinical, and administrative affairs of the Department at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and Northwestern Medical Group.
The Department of Surgery is home to 106 faculty who support a broad spectrum of surgical and research specialties, many of whom are engaged in leading-edge basic, translational, and clinical science.
Clinical faculty in the medical school practice in two U.S. News & World Report Honor Roll hospitals: Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago as well as Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital and the Jesse Brown Veteran’s Administration Medical Center. Principal investigators appointed through the Feinberg School of Medicine are supported by $484.1 million of annual research funding.
Successful candidates will possess an MD or MD/PhD with board certification and be eligible for a faculty appointment as a full-time Professor with proven clinical and administrative skills, scholarly accomplishments, and national recognition in a science or clinical discipline.
