SUMMARY

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology seeks an OB/GYN Physician with a strong commitment to patient care and medical education. This is a 1.0% FTE position located in Hilo.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTITES AND FUNCTIONS:

The Hilo Division of General OB/GYN Specialists has clinical, educational and research responsibilities that must be met. As members of the University of Hawai’i, John A. Burns School of Medicine faculty, the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women’s Health, we are dedicated to working together to meet those responsibilities in a professional, caring and enthusiastic manner.

As a member of this Division responsibilities will be primarily:

1. Four and half (4.5) days per week, equal to 90% FTE, of clinical daytime coverage at UHP faculty practice locations, inpatient sites and community clinics. These locations can include Hilo Medical Center (HMC), Hilo Community Surgery Center (HCSC), as well as other outpatient contracted community clinics.

Support for Medical Student and OB/GYN resident rotations and associated clinical instruction is expected at all of these sites.

Proportionate amount of calls for faculty practice and contracted sites patients is expected.

2. Unrestricted OB/GYN privileges at contacted clinical sites.

3. One half (0.5) day per week of flexible administrative/hospital procedure/academic time, equal to 10% FTE:
a. To allow for needed Operating Room time including scheduled C-Sections.
b. To allow for timely charting, billing, and patient related follow-up
c. Serve as a core faculty for OB/GYN residency program
d. Regular attendance at the following meetings and activities:
     i. Monthly Faculty Meetings
     ii. Participation in division activities
     iii. Participation in medical student and residents education programs
     iv. Community education

4. Serve as a core OB/GYN faculty for resident and student education

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MD Degree or equivalent medical degree from a medical school of recognized standing.
  • Successful completion of an ACGME accredited Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program.
  • Board certified/Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology, with the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Must have a current Hawaii medical license or be eligible to apply
  • Demonstrated ability in teaching and patient care.

PAY RANGE:
Salary commensurate with qualifications, experience, and performance
