We are seeking a BE/BC pediatric pulmonologist to join our rapidly expanding pediatric lung and sleep program. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys managing the full spectrum of pediatric pulmonology including the clinical management of infants, children and adolescents with asthma, chronic lung disease and home technology needs. Additional opportunities to participate in multi-disciplinary management of patients with sleep related disorders are available. The level of participation may be tailored to provider's interests.

For decades Randall Children's Hospital has been a regional leader in providing excellent care to infants, children and teens in Portland and the Pacific Northwest and is one of Oregon's largest providers of high acuity pediatric inpatient and trauma services. Randall Children's Hospital medical staff is made up of more than 600 physicians, including pediatric medical and surgical specialists, hospitalists and community pediatricians. Randall Children's Hospital receives nearly 150,000 patient visits per year. The Children's Emergency Department is Oregon's busiest, with more than 26,000 visits annually. Pediatric Critical Care coverage is provided by 24/7 in- house Pediatric Intensivists in the ICU. Additionally, there is an inpatient Child and Adolescent Program through the Unity Center for Behavioral Health which is a unique collaboration of four healthcare systems within the Portland metro area. Randall Children's Hospital is a teaching facility for medical students and residents.

Responsibilities
Clinical

  • Provides consultation services for children with pulmonary diseases who are hospitalized at a Legacy hospital or are referred by their primary physician for outpatient consultation.
  • Responds promptly in writing to referral source with clinical findings and suggested plan of care.
  • Provides telephone consultative services for children with pulmonary diseases throughout Oregon and the region.
  • Provides continuous coverage for the Pediatric Pulmonary Services together with the other pediatric pulmonology specialists on the Emanuel Hospital Medical Staff.
  • Development of consultative asthma clinic, chronic lung disease clinic, neonatal follow-up clinic, as requested.

Administrative

  • Shares responsibility with colleagues for respiratory therapy practices on all Legacy pediatric units and newborn nurseries.
  • Collaborates with colleagues and other staff to develop policies and procedures for respiratory care throughout Randall Children's Hospital.
  • Participates in quality assurance and continuous improvement in respiratory and ventilatory care of all children in Randall Children's Hospital.
  • Advises the Legacy Supply and Equipment Council on new technology that pertain to respiratory care/specialized pulmonary care.
  • Advises the Legacy Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee on pulmonary medications including formulary recommendations, restrictions, utilization, and monitoring of adverse reactions.
  • Participates regularly in the teaching activities of the Pediatric Department, including resident and student education and outreach continuing medical education.
  • Participate in marketing/outreach for Pediatric Pulmonary Program as requested.

Pediatric Inpatient Duties

  • Serves as Attending Pediatrician on the House services as requested by Chief of Pediatrics.
  • Assists private practice physicians in using hospital services in an efficient and cost-effective manner with their hospitalized patients.
  • Participates in education, training, and evaluation of house staff, medical students, and hospital personnel who have direct patient care responsibilities on the Pediatric Units.
  • Serves on department, hospital and Legacy Health committees as requested

Qualifications

  • Graduate of four-year accredited U.S. Medical School or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Pediatric Pulmonologist Fellowship

Licensure
Licensure/Certification:

  • Board eligible/certified in Pediatrics
  • Board eligible/must be board certified in Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine within 5 years of eligibility
  • Unrestricted license to practice medicine in Oregon
  • Active member in good standing of Hospital Medical Staff
  • PALS certification
  • DEA Licensure in applicable state
