Urologist
Washington DC VA Medical Center seeks a Full-Time, Board Certified/Board Eligible Urologist.
Preferred Qualifications for the Urologist:
Must be a U.S. Citizen
English language proficiency
ABOU Board Eligible/Certified
Fellowship training or special interest in Stone Surgery or Robotic Oncology Surgery
High desire for diagnostic and therapeutic urologic procedures
Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Participates in a team approach to ensure appropriate patient assessments.
Participates in the operating room commensurate with technical abilities.
Preoperative and post-operative evaluation of various diagnostic and therapeutic urologic procedures.
Teaching and supervision of urology residents and medical students.
Required to work 80 hours per two weeks’ pay period.

Federal Retirement Plan:
VA employees are covered by the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS). FERS is a three-tiered retirement plan composed of 1) Social Security benefits; 2) FERS basic benefits (pension); and 3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a 401K-type plan. The Federal Government also provides an automatic basic contribution (1% of salary) and up to 4% of salary in matching contributions, depending on the amount of the employee contribution. For retired military personnel, these benefits are in addition to full monthly retirement pay or pension.
